Lady Scots Cross Country Team Competes at McNeil Invitational in Round Rock

On Saturday, September 21st, the Lady Scots Cross Country Team travelled to Round Rock and competed at the McNeil Invitational at Old Settlers Park. This is the venue for the UIL State Championships in November. It was a great race day for the team!

In the Varsity Gold Division, the team placed 9th out of 32 teams with 344 points. There were 244 runners in this race. Sophomore Ryan Sontag led the team by placing 39th with a time of 19:01.2. Junior Maddie Heckler placed 56th with a time of 19:29.7, and freshman Paisley Bassett placed 59th with a time of 19:33.0. The other members of the team were junior Presley Pate, senior captain Samantha Meck, senior Varsha Ravi, and junior Julia Berlin.

In the 5A Varsity Division, the team placed 6th out of 20 teams. There were 170 runners in this race. Junior Tessa Nurre was the top runner for the team as she placed 18th with a time of 22:10.6. The other team members were junior Campbell Dean, freshmen Lily Johnson and Charlotte Hodges, junior Gracie Golden, and freshman Anna Odom.

In the JV Division, the team placed 4th out of 16 teams and scored 122 points. There were 203 runners in this division. Junior Ava Thropp led the team by placing 14th with a time of 24:00.2. The other top 30 finishers were sophomore Campbell Ragan (25th), freshman Margaret Lee (27th), and senior captain Price Rhodes (29th).

The coaches are so proud of the team! Everyone is working together as a team, and it is so much fun to watch!
