Lady Scots Cross Country Team Competes at Lovejoy Fall Festival

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team had a great day on Saturday, September 14th as they competed at the Lovejoy Fall Festival at Myers Park in McKinney. Myers Park is the venue for the District 12-5A Championships on October 10th. This meet is always very competitive and gives us an idea of who we will be competing against in the championship phase of our season.

In the Elite Varsity, the team placed 8th with 225 points. There were 28 teams and 235 runners in this division. Sophomore Ryan Sontag led the team by placing 15th with a time of 18:43.5. Freshman Paisley Bassett placed 26th with a time of 19:04.1. The other team members were Maddie Heckler, Finley Heckler, senior captain Samantha Meck, Lily Johnson, and Ellie Preston.

In the Varsity Division, the team placed 5th with 217 points. There were 29 teams and 233 runners. Presley Pate was the lead runner for the team by placing 26th with a time of 21:04.2. Julia Berlin was close behind as she placed 28th with a time of 21:08.3. The other runners were Varsha Ravi, Hayden Gray, Tessa Nurre, Campbell Dean, and Charlotte Hodges.

In the Elite JV Division, the team placed 7th with 190 points. There were 23 teams and 214 runners. The top runner for the team was Gracie Golden who placed 30th with a time of 23:07.8. The other runners were Anna Odom, Campbell Ragan, Ellie Chong, Ava Thropp, Emery Paulsen, and Leia Mufraggi.

In the JV Division, the team placed 4th with 138 points. There were 27 teams and 275 runners. Lucy Burns was the top runner for the team. She placed 15th with a time of 23:38.4. The other top six runners were Reed Golden, Margaret Lee, Elaine Cochran, Mary Grace Mousa, Kamryn Tillery, and Martina Hudson.

The following runners set new Lovejoy Fall Festival personal records: Presley Pate, Julia Berlin, Ava Thropp, Emery Paulsen, Mary Grace Mousa, and Alejandra Villasana. Martina Hudson set a new overall personal record, and Ellie Chong, Emery Paulsen, and Mary Grace Mousa had season bests.

The last regular season meet of the season for the Lady Scots is the Jesuit XC Classic on September 28th at Prestonwood Polo Club. The first race starts at 7:55 a.m.
