Congratulations to the Lady Scots Cross Country Team as they are the 8th best team in the State of Texas as they competed at the UIL Class 5A State Championship Meet on Saturday, November 2nd. There were 16 teams and 148 runners competing at the meet. In the State of Texas, there are 254 schools in Class 5A.

The team was led by sophomore Ryan Sontag who placed 25th (19th in team scoring) with a time of 19:09.30. Freshman Finley Heckler was close behind as she placed 37th (24th in team scoring) with a time of 19:29.70. The other team members were freshman Paisley Bassett, juniors Maddie Heckler and Presley Pate, senior Ellie Preston, and senior captain Samantha Meck. The alternates were junior Julia Berlin, sophomore Annie Cooper, junior Hayden Gray, and senior Varsha Ravi.

The team did an outstanding job and represented Highland Park with pride. The coaches are so proud of everyone! It was great to be back at Old Settlers Park racing in November!
