Congratulations to the Lady Scots Cross Country Team as they placed 3rd at the Region II-5A Championships on Tuesday, October 22nd. They have continued the State Tradition as the team will be competing at the UIL Class 5A State Championships on Saturday, November 2nd. The race begins at 10:45 a.m.
There were 24 teams competing for the Region II-5A Championship and 174 runners. The team scored 111 points and was led by sophomore Ryan Sontag. She medaled and placed 9th with a time of 18:55.76. Close behind were freshman Paisley Bassett who placed 15th with a time of 19:15.03 and junior Maddie Heckler who placed 17th with a time of 19:18.83. Freshman Finley Heckler placed 22nd (19:30.64), senior captain Samantha Meck placed 59th (21:05.69), junior Presley Pate placed 63rd (21:14.51), and senior Ellie Preston placed 79th (21:56.39). The alternates were Varsha Ravi, Annie Cooper, Julia Berlin, and Hayden Gray.
The top four teams and top 10 individuals not on one of these teams qualified for the State Meet. The coaches are so proud of the team and excited to be back competing at the State Meet! The four senior captains are doing a great job of leading the team – Elaine Cochran, Samantha Meck, Natalie Miller, and Price Rhodes.
