Lady Scots Cross Country Team Competes at the Waxahachie Woodhouse Invitational

On Saturday, August 17th, the Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed at the Waxahachie Woodhouse Invitational at the Lakeview Camp in Waxahachie. It was a great race day!

In the Elite Varsity Division, the team placed 2nd with 83 points. The team was led by sophomore Ryan Sontag who placed 10th with a time of 18:36.2 which was a new PR. The next three Scots came in together. Junior Maddie Heckler placed 15th with a time of 18:55.9, freshman Finley Heckler placed 16th with a time of 19:03.0, and freshman Paisley Bassett placed 17th with a time of 19:05.3. The other teammates were senior captain Samantha Meck, juniors Presley Pate and Campbell Dean, sophomore Annie Cooper, and freshman Lily Johnson.

The team won the Elite JV Division with 52 points. The top runner for the team was junior Julia Berlin who placed 2nd and set a new PR with a time of 20:58.0. Junior Hayden Gray placed 6th with a time of 21:58.1. Sophomores Campbell Ragan placed 11th and Avi Levy placed 14th. The other top three runners for the team were freshmen Charlotte Hodges and Irene Cooper and sophomore Jenna McCombs.

Four other athletes set new PR’s – Pate, A. Cooper, McCombs, and AK Goldman. There were eight athletes that set new course records – Sontag, Pate, A. Cooper, Berlin, Levy, Emery Paulsen, Surya Assar, and Goldman.

The team ran with a lot of confidence which was so much fun to watch! The next race for the Lady Scots is the Greenhill 6-Mile Relay on Saturday, August 24th at Norbuck Park in Dallas. The first race begins at 7:30 a.m.
