Lady Scots Cross Country Team Competes at McKinney Boyd Bronco Stampede

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed very well in three divisions at the McKinney Boyd Bronco Stampede on Saturday, September 9th at Myers Park in McKinney. The course was very challenging due to the athletes climbing over 1000 meters in hills. In the Elite Varsity Division, the team placed 3rd with 90 points. There were 14 teams and 107 runners in this division. Maddie Heckler led the team with a 4th place finish with a time of 19:17.8, and Kayla Dickerson placed 7th with a time of 19:28.7. The other team members were Samantha Meck, Caroline Scott, Gracie Spillman, Campbell Dean, and Katie Taulbee.

In the Open Varsity Division, the team placed 2nd with 69 points. There were 13 teams and 109 runners in this division. Varsha Ravi was the lead runner for the Lady Scots. She placed 11th with a time of 20:59.3. Hayden Gray placed 14th with a time of 21:19.7. The other team members were Annie Cooper, Presley Pate, Tessa Nurre, senior captain Rylie Galanos, and Elaine Cochran.

In the JV Division, the Lady Scots placed 1st with 32 points. There were 20 teams and 233 runners. The top runner for the JV was Julia Berlin. She placed 3rd with a time of 22:32.0. Lucy Burns placed 4th (22:34.3), Price Rhodes placed 7th (23:05.5), and senior captain Adalyn Booth placed 8th (23:17.1 – a new personal record). The other top three team members were Ellie Chong, Esme Schroeder, and Avi Levy

The following Lady Scots also set new personal records: Mary Lawrence Cordon, Kate Houston, Brooke DeVault, and Anna Katherine Goldman.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be at the Lovejoy XC Fall Festival on Saturday, September 16th at Myers Park in McKinney. The first race begins at 7:15 a.m.
