Lady Scots Cross Country Team Competes at Waxahachie Woodhouse Invitational

Congratulations to the Lady Scots Cross Country Team as both the Varsity and JV won the Waxahachie Woodhouse Invitation on Saturday, August 19th.

In the Varsity Division, there were 16 teams and 128 runners. The Varsity scored 67 points and was led by sophomore Maddie Heckler who placed sixth with a time of 18:23.7 (a new personal course record). Senior Kayla Dickerson was close behind and placed ninth with a time of 18:30.5 (a new personal course record). Freshman Ryan Sontag placed 16th with a time of 19:08.0. The other team members were Ellie Preston – 19:36.7, Caroline Scott – 19:46.2 (a new personal record), Samantha Meck – 19:49.0 (a new personal course record), Katie Taulbee – 19:49.4 (a new personal record), Claire Deeken – 19:53.8, Campbell Dean – 20:00.1 (a new personal record), and senior captain Ashley Goldman – 21:06.5.

In the JV Division, there were 16 teams and 182 runners. The JV team scored 20 points. Senior Gracie Spillman won the division with a time of 20:24.0. The team had six other runners in the top ten: Varsha Ravi – third, Tessa Nurre – fourth, Presley Pate – fifth, Hayden Gray – sixth, Annie Cooper – eighth, and senior captain Rylie Galanos – ninth.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Greenhill 6-Mile Relay at Norbuck Park on Saturday, August 26th. The Varsity races at 7:35 a.m., followed by the JV A/B at 8:35 a.m.
