The Lady Scots Cross Country Team had their first meet of the season on Saturday, August 12th at the Plano ISD Invitational held at Hoblitzelle Park in Plano. This year it was a 2-mile course rather than the normal 5K. Both the Varsity and JV placed 1st with 43 points and 15 points, respectively.

In the Varsity Division, there were 23 teams and 176 runners. Senior Kayla Dickerson was the top runner for the Lady Scots. She placed 3rd with a time of 12:03.2. Maddie Heckler was right next to Dickerson. She placed 4th with a time of 12:03.2 as well. Ellie Preston also had a great race by placing 6th with a time of 12:10.4. Freshman Ryan Sontag placed 11th (12:19.0), Caroline Scott placed 22nd (12:53.1), Samantha Meck placed 28th (13:00.9), senior Katie Taulbee placed 29th (13:04.8), and senior captain, Ashley Goldman placed 82nd with a time of 14:07.8.

In the JV Division, there were 20 teams and 257 runners. Freshman Claire Deeken led the Lady Scots by placing 2nd with a time of 13:14.6. Rounding out the top nine finishers were Campbell Dean (3rd, 13:18.6), senior Gracie Spillman (4th, 13:33.5 – a new 2-mile personal record), Varsha Ravi (5th, 13:38.6), Tessa Nurre (6th, 13:48.3), Hayden Gray (8th, 13:53.8), and Presley Pate (9th, 14:03.4)

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Waxahachie Woodhouse Invitational on Saturday, August 19th at Lakeview Camp in Waxahachie. The Varsity races at 7:00 a.m., followed by the JV approximately at 7:50 a.m.
