Gymnasts prep for competition

On Thursday, the Lady Scots Gymnastics team, joined by members of the Lady Raiders Gymnastics team, participated in a friendly intrasquad competition at the Hegi Family Gymnastics Training Center.

The girls were divided into 2 teams, Gold and Blue, and performed their compulsory routines for the judges. The Blue team led by Junior Captain Lily Ford, won the team competition. Other members of the Blue team included, Caroline Fullwood, Lauren Sweary, Era Johnston, and Erin Bollinger.

Junior Captain Ana Simpson won the All-Around, Bars, and Beam. Ana was 2nd on Vault and 2nd on Floor. Her highest score of the meet was 9.7 on Floor. Ana scored 9.5 or higher on all 4 events.

Junior Captain Lily Ford placed 2nd All-Around, won Vault and Floor, and was 2nd on Bars and Beam. Her highest score of the meet was 9.8 on Floor. Lily’s 9.8 was the highest score of the entire meet.

Junior Margaret Maambo placed 3rd on Bars, 3rd All-Around, 4th on Floor, and 5th on Vault. Her highest score of the meet was 9.35 on Floor.

Senior Captain Olivia Adams placed 4th All-Around, 5th on Bars, and 5th on Beam. Her highest score of the meet was 8.8.

Sophomore Caroline Fullwood placed 5th All-Around, 6th on Vault, 6th on Bars, and 6th on Floor. Her highest score of the meet was 9.2 on Floor.

Eighth grader Lauren Sweary placed 6th All-Around, and 4th on Vault. Her highest score of the meet was 9.2 on Vault. Lauren will begin her competition season with Highland Park Middle School on January 24.

Sophomore Era Johnston placed 7th All-Around and 6th on Beam. Her highest score of the meet was 9.1 on Floor.
Freshman Harper O’Neal placed 8th All-Around and 5th on Floor. Her highest score of the meet was 9.25 on Floor.

8th grader Eva Madden placed 3rd on Beam and 3rd on Floor. Her highest score of the meet was 9.6 on Floor. Eva will begin her competition season with HPMS on January 24.

Junior Erin Bollinger competed on Vault, Bars and Beam. She placed 3rd on Vault, 3rd on Bars, and 4th on Beam. Her highest score of the meet was 9.4 on Vault.

The Lady Scots begin competition their official competition season on Thursday, November 17 at the Lakeview Invite in Garland, TX.
