LADY SCOTS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM COMPETES AT MCNEIL INVITATIONAL

Lady Scots Cross Country Team Competes at McNeil Invitational

On Saturday, September 24th, the Lady Scots Cross Country Team travelled to Round Rock and competed at the McNeil Invitational at Old Settlers Park – this is the venue for the UIL State Meet. It was a great race day for the team!

In the Varsity Gold Division, the team placed 3rd out of 11 teams with 101 points. There were 105 runners in this race. Freshman Maddie Heckler led the team with a time of 17:45.0 and placed 13th. Senior Charlotte Hudson placed 19th with a time of 17:54.9. The other members of the team were junior Kayla Dickerson, sophomore Ellie Preston, juniors Ashley Goldman and Gracie Spillman, and sophomore Samantha Meck. All seven runners set new personal records.

In the 6A Varsity Division, the team placed 8th out of 52 teams. There were 416 runners in this race. Sophomore Varsha Ravi was the top runner for the team as she placed 26th with a time of 19:54.9 – a new personal record. The other team members were sophomore Caroline Scott, freshman Campbell Dean, sophomore Tessa Nurre, senior Julia Yates, sophomore Mary Katherine Diehl, and junior Ava Byrd. Scott, Nurre, and Yates also set new personal records.

In the JV Division, the team placed 1st out of 18 teams and scored 17 points (15 points is a perfect team score). There were 182 runners in this division. Freshman Hayden Gray led the team by placing 2nd with a time of 20:55.9 – a new personal record. Freshmen Julia Berlin and Presley Pate placed 3rd and 4th respectively, senior Alexis Scott placed 6th, senior captain Avery Owens placed 7th, freshman Annika Johnson placed 8th, and junior Katie Taulbee placed 9th. Sophomore Price Rhodes placed 10th. The following JV athletes set new personal records: Berlin, Pate, Scott, Owens, Johnson, Rhodes, Natalie Miller, Elaine Cochran, Grace Golden, Katherine Ann Cochran, Anna Solymosi, Kate Lipscomb, Eva Boutros, Bess Prather, Surya Assar, Morgan Howarth, Kate Kozman, and Mary Grace Mousa

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be Saturday, October 1st at the Jesuit XC Classic. The meet will be held at the Prestonwood Polo Club in Oak Point. The first race begins at 8:25 a.m.
