LADY SCOTS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM COMPETES AT LOVEJOY XC FALL FESTIVAL AND LUBBOCK ISD INVITATIONAL

Lady Scots Cross Country Team Competes at Lovejoy XC Fall Festival and Lubbock ISD Invitational

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team had a successful day on Saturday, September 17th. Two teams competed at the Lovejoy XC Fall Festival at Myers Park in McKinney (the location of the District 7-6A Cross Country Meet), and the other two teams competed at the Lubbock ISD Invitational at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock (the location of the Region I Meet in October).

In the Varsity Division at the Lovejoy Meet, the team placed 14th with 374 points. There were 30 teams and 252 runners in this division. Mary Katherine Diehl led the team by placing 28th. The other team members were Ava Byrd, senior captain Avery Owens, Annika Johnson, Presley Pate, Price Rhodes, and Reese Preston.

In the JV Division at the Fall Festival, the team placed 4th with 147 points. There were 38 teams and 401 runners. Katie Taulbee was the lead runner for the team by placing 6th. The other top six runners for the team were senior captain Windsor Rhodes, Elaine Cochran, Katherine Ann Cochran, Natalie Miller, Grace Golden, and Kate Lipscomb.

The following runners set new personal records: Ava Byrd, Annika Johnson, Elaine Cochran, Katherine Ann Cochran, Grace Golden, Eva Boutros, and Mary Grace Mousa.

At the Lubbock ISD Invitational, the Varsity won the 6A Division. There were 11 teams and 77 runners. Maddie Heckler won the race with a time of 19:31.6. Kayla Dickerson placed 3rd, and Charlotte Hudson placed 5th. The other team members were Ashly Goldman, Gracie Spillman, Samantha Meck, and Ellie Preston.

In the JV Division, there weren’t any team scores. The first four places went to the Lady Scots – Caroline Scott (1st), Campbell Dean (2nd), Tessa Nurre (3rd), and Varsha Ravi (4th). The other team members were Julia Yates, Hayden Gray, and Julia Berlin.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be on Saturday, September 24th at the McNeil Invitational in Round Rock – the State Meet course. The first race begins at 8:00 a.m.
