LADY SCOTS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM COMPETES AT MCKINNEY BOYD BRONCO STAMPEDE

Lady Scots Cross Country Team Competes at McKinney Boyd Bronco Stampede

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed very well in four divisions at the McKinney Boyd Bronco Stampede on Saturday, September 10th at Myers Park in McKinney. The course was very challenging due to the athletes climbing over 1000 meters in hills. In the Elite Varsity Division, the team placed 1st with 62 points. There were 11 teams and 88 runners in this division. Maddie Heckler led the team with a 3rd place finish and a new personal record of 18:23.5, and Ellie Preston placed 8th with a new personal record of 19:06.0. The other team members were Kayla Dickerson, Gracie Spillman (set a new personal record of 19:59.4), Ashley Goldman, Caroline Scott (set a new personal record of 20:35.6), and Campbell Dean.

In the Open Varsity Division, the team placed 3rd with 60 points. There were 14 teams and 113 runners in this division. Samantha Meck was the lead runner for the Lady Scots. She placed 7th with a new personal record of 20:16.8. Tessa Nurre also set a new personal record with a time of 20:35.6 and placing 10th. The other team members were Varsha Ravi, Hayden Gray, Julia Berlin, Katie Taulbee, and Alexis Scott.

In the Elite JV Division, the Lady Scots placed 1st with 52 points. There were 14 teams and 98runners. The top runner for the JV was Julia Yates. She placed 3rd with a new personal record of 21:34.9. Senior captain Avery Owens placed 8th and set a new personal record of 22:08.8, and Presley Pate placed 10th with a new personal record of 22:30.6. The other team members were Ava Byrd, Price Rhodes, Reese Preston, and Lily Hart.

In the Open JV Division, the team placed 1st with 30 points. There were 18 teams and 187 runners in this division. The lead runner for the Lady Scots was Annika Johnson. She placed 4th with a new personal record of 23:23.6. The other top ten runners in the division were Katherine Ann Cochran – 6th place, Windsor Rhodes – 7th place, Elaine Cochran – 8th place, and Kate Lipscomb – 10th place.

The following Lady Scots also set new personal records: Hayden Gray, Julia Berlin, Alexis Scott, Katherine Ann Cochran, Elaine Cochran, and Mary Lawrence Cordon.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Lovejoy XC Fall Festival on Saturday, September 17th. The meet will be held at Myers Park in McKinney, and the first race is at 8:00 a.m. The team will also compete in the Lubbock ISD Invitational on Saturday. This is the Region I course. The first race is at 12:05 p.m.
