The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed at the Marcus Coach T Invitational on Saturday, September 3rd at North Lakes Park in Denton. The Elite Varsity Team placed 12th out of 26 teams with 337 points. Flower Mound won the meet with 58 points, followed by Southlake Carroll and Klein. Freshman Maddie Heckler had a great race and was the top runner for the Lady Scots as she placed 17th out of 190 runners with a time of 18:32.2 (a new personal record). The other team members were sophomore Ellie Preston, junior Kayla Dickerson, senior Sara Cavey, freshman Campbell Dean, juniors Gracie Spillman and Ashley Goldman.

In the Open Varsity Division, the team placed 4th out of 33 teams with 207 points. There were 265 runners in this division. Senior Grace Hathaway led the team with a time of 20:25.4. The other runners were sophomores Caroline Scott, Samantha Meck, Varsha Ravi, and Tessa Nurre, freshman Hayden Gray, junior Katie Taulbee, and sophomore Mary Katherine Diehl.

In the Elite JV Division, the team placed 3rd out of 19 teams with 109 points. There were 119 runners in this division. Freshman Julia Berlin was the top runner for the Lady Scots as she placed 11th. The other top six runners were senior Alexis Scott, freshman Presley Pate, senior Julia Yates, junior Ava Byrd, senior captain Avery Owens, and sophomore Lily Hart.

In the Open JV Division, the team placed 2nd out of nine teams. There were 83 runners in this division. Junior Mary Susan Scheble placed 8th followed by senior Lauren Courtney who placed 10th. The other top five runners for the Lady Scots were freshman Bess Prather, sophomore Mary Lawrence Cordon, senior Shelby Burke, sophomore Surya Assar, and freshman Morgan Howarth.

Congratulations to the following Lady Scots as they set new personal records: Surya Assar, Mary Lawrence Cordon, Campbell Dean, Gracie Golden, Hayden Gray, Maddie Heckler, Morgan Howarth, Annika Johnson, Bess Prather, Caroline Scott, and Ava Thropp.

The McKinney Boyd Bronco Stampede Invitational will be the next meet for the Lady Scots. The meet will be held at Myers Park in McKinney (the location of the District 7-6A Meet) on Saturday, September 10th. The first race begins at 7:45 a.m.
