The Lady Scots Gymnastics Team had an incredible Regional competition finishing 2nd place as a team. The team heads to State Championships next week ranked 6th in the State.

Sophomore Ana Simpson led the team scoring 9.5 or higher on all events on Day 1, and winning Vault on Day 2. Ana placed 3rd All-Around, 4th on Vault, 6th on Bars, 3rd on Beam, and 9th on Floor. She scored season highs on Optional Vault, Beam, and All-Around. Her highest score of the meet was 9.7 on Compulsory Beam.

Senior Captain Kennedy Downing continued her outstanding performances placing 4th All-Around, 3rd on Vault, 7th on Bars, 5th on Beam, and 4th on Floor. Kennedy scored season highs on Compulsory Bars and All-Around. She scored 9.4 or higher on 7 of her 8 events at Regionals. Her highest score of the meet was 9.75 on Compulsory Vault.

Sophomore Lily Ford was a strong performer for the Lady Scots scoring 9.15 or higher on 6 of her 8 events. Lily placed 5th All-Around, 9th on Vault, 9th on Bars, 2nd on Beam, and 6th on Floor. She scored season highs on Compulsory Beam and Optional All-Around. Her highest score of the meet was 9.8 on Compulsory Beam.

Senior Captain Linda Tran showed amazing confidence in competition scoring 9.0 or higher on 6 of her 8 events. Linda placed 7th All-Around, 12th on Vault, 5th on Bars, 9th on Beam, and 15th on Floor. She scored season highs on Compulsory Beam, Floor, and All-Around, as well as Optional Bars. Her highest score of the meet was 9.6 on Compulsory Bars.

Junior Olivia Adams competed in the all-around showing calmness and consistency. Olivia placed 17th on Vault, 15th on Bars, 15th on Beam, 18th on Floor, and 12th All-Around. Olivia scored a season high Optional All-Around score. Her highest score of the meet was 8.8 on Compulsory Vault and Floor.

Freshman Caroline Fullwood competed on Vault and Floor placing 20th and 19th respectively. Caroline scored a season high on Optional Floor and scored her highest score of the meet on Compulsory Vault.

Freshman Era Johnston returned to competition on Beam. She placed 15th on the event with a season high score on Optional Beam.

Sophomore Riley Neumann competed on Bars and placed 18th on that event.

The team will travel to Rockwall April 21-23 to compete in the State Championships hosted by Rockwall High School. Go Scots!
