LADY SCOTS CC TEAM WINS DISTRICT 13-5A CHAMPIONSHIP

Lady Scots CC Team Wins District 13-5A Championship

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed in the District 13-5A Championship Meet on Thursday, October 14th at Myers Park in McKinney. In the Varsity Division, the team won the District Championship for the 43rd time out of 48 years. The team scored 20 points. Royse City placed 2nd with 47 points. Junior Sara Cavey led the team by winning the individual District Championship with a time of 19:09.3. Junior Grace Hathaway was the bronze medalist with a time of 19:34.3 (a new course personal record), senior captain Alli Grace Ott placed 4th (19:38.2 – a new course personal record), junior Charlotte Hudson placed 5th (19:42.9), sophomore Ashley Goldman placed 7th (20:21.7 – a new course personal record), freshman Samantha Meck placed 10th (20:44.9 - a new course personal record), and sophomore Gracie Spillman placed 11th (20:45.1 - a new course personal record).

In the JV Division, the team also won the District Championship with 15 points. Royse City was 2nd with 55 points. The JV has never been beaten when they have had a team competing in the District Meet. Sophomore Rylie Galanos won her second straight District 13-5A Championship race with a time of 21:17.0 (a new course personal record), freshman Varsha Ravi placed 2nd, freshman Mary Katherine Diehl placed 3rd (set a new course personal record), freshman Reese Preston placed 4th (set a new course personal record), and sophomore Katie Taulbee placed 5th. Rounding out the top seven runners for the team were senior Ava Murphy who placed 6th and senior captain Scarlett Randall placing 7th (set a new course personal record).

The following athletes also set new records: Bella Vargas (new course record), Lauren Courtney (new personal record), Mary Susan Scheble (new personal record), Price Rhodes (new personal record), Shelby Burke (new personal record), and Kenned Foy (new season best).

A big thank you to all of the parent volunteers and high school administrators and teachers who helped with the meet. HP could not have hosted the meet without your help! We appreciate you so much!

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Region II-5A Meet at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie on Tuesday, October 26th. The race begins at 12:00 p.m.
