Congratulations to the Lady Scots Track & Field Team as they won the Area 13-5A/14-5A Track & Field Championship on Saturday, April 17th. The team scored 205 points followed by Midlothian with 134 points.

All of the field events and 3200 m run were completed on Thursday, but the rest of the running events were moved to Saturday due to the weather. In the field events, captain Claire Cochran placed 4th in the high jump with a jump of 4' 10", and in the long jump, Raina Pietrzak placed 2nd with a new PR of 16' 11.5", and Hattie Speicher placed 3rd with a jump of 16' 11.5". Ailey Fidler set a new PR in the pole vault and placed 3rd with a vault of 9' 6". In the triple jump, Speicher set a new PR with a jump of 36' 8" and placed 3rd, and Pietrzak placed 6th (35' 6.25").

In the running events, captain Cameron Fawcett won the 3200 m run (10:57.79) and the 1600 m run (5:02.00). Alli Grace Ott tripled and placed 2nd in the 3200 m run (11:39.53), 3rd in the 800 m run (2:24.08), and 3rd in the 1600 m run (5:24.96). The 4 x 100 m relay placed 2nd (49.62) - Savannah Hinze, Kate Rossley, Cochran, and Katelyn Tanner. Izzy Blaylock won the 800 m run (2:17.41) and placed 2nd in the 400 m dash with a time of 60.83. Charlotte Hudson placed 2nd in the 800 m run with a time of 2:23.17.

In the 100 m hurdles, captain Claire Cochran won the event and broke her own school record with a time of 14.83 - her previous record was 15.05 set in 2019. Hinze placed 5th (15.90), and Pietrzak placed 7th (16.27).

In the 100 m dash, Meredith Sims also broke her own school record with a time of 11.91 - her previous record was 12.10 set two weeks ago. She placed first. The 4 x 200 m relay placed 2nd with a time of 1:46.14 - Tanner, Rossley, captain Abigail Schott, and Pietrzak. Captain Elle Thompson won the 400 m dash with a time of 60.69 - a new PR, and Kayla Dickerson also set a new PR and placed 4th with a time of 61.98.

Hinze won the 300 m hurdles (48.46), Tanner placed 5th in the 200 m dash (26.51), Grace Hathaway placed 2nd in the 1600 m run with a time of 5:19.74 - a new PR, and the 4 x 400 m relay won with a time of 4:03.61 - Thompson, Blaylock, Dickerson, and Pietrzak.

The team set six new personal records, three new season bests, and two new school records.

The team did an incredible job and the coaches are so proud of everyone! These athletes are both mentally tough and very talented! It's A Great Day To Be A Lady Scot!

The top four in each event will be competing at the Region II-5A Meet on Friday, April 23rd and Saturday, April 24th at UTA - Maverick Stadium. Admission is $10 for students and adults. Tickets can be purchased online at
