Congratulations to senior captain Cameron Fawcett as she won the 2020 Class 5A/6A Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) Cross Country Athlete of the Year Award. On Friday, April 9th, Sam Tipton, Executive Director of the TGCA, presented Cameron with the award at Germany Park.

Below are Cameron's accolades over the past four years in cross country:

2017, 2019, and 2020 - Won the Scottie Award (MVP of the Team).

All-District Honors - 2017 - 3rd @ District 13-5A Meet (19:11.4), Academic All-District, 1st Team All-District, Team won the District 13-5A Championship; 2018 - did not run at the District Meet due to an injury, Academic All-District, Team won District 11-5A Championship; 2019 - 1st @ District 11-5A Meet (18:40.9), Academic All-District, 1st Team All-District, Team won the District 11-5A Championship; 2020 - 1st @ District 15-5A Meet (19:05.4 - cold and windy), 1st Team All-District, Academic All-District, Team won the District 15-5A Championship.

All-Region Honors - 2017 - 11th @ Region II-5A Meet (19:27.31), CCCAT All-Region, Team won the Region II-5A Championship; 2018 - 18th @ Region II-5A Meet (19:13.40), Team was the Region II-5A Runner-Up; 2019 - Placed 4th at Region II-5A Meet (18:15.53 - a new PR), CCCAT All-Region, Team won the Region II-5A Championship; 2020 - 2nd @ Region II-5A Meet (17:50.64), CCCAT All-Region, Team was the Region II-5A Runner-Up.

All-State Honors - 2017 - 14th @ State Meet (18:27.23), TGCA Class 5A All-State, Team placed 7th; 2018 - 39th @ State Meet (19:19.53), TGCA Class 5A All-State, Team placed 4th; 2019 - 8th @ State Meet (18:04.74), TGCA Class 5A All-State, TGCA Class 5A/6A CC All-Star, Team placed 5th; 2020 - 2nd @ State Meet (17:29.01 - a new PR), TGCA Class 5A All-State, TGCA Class 5A/6A CC Legacy All-Star Team, TGCA Class 5A/6A Academic All-State, CCCAT Academic All-State, Team placed 5th.

Cameron Fawcett is a super young lady who has blossomed over the past four seasons in cross country. She was elected by her teammates as captain of the 2020 Lady Scots Cross Country Team. She truly understands the meaning of a servant leader. She has taken her younger teammates under her wing and tried to teach them about cross country and teamwork.

During the 2020 season in five races prior to the District Meet, she placed 2nd in the first two meets and won the next three. She set a new personal record this season at the Lovejoy Fall Festival with a time of 17:38.2, then at the UIL State Meet beat that personal record with a time of 17:29.01.

Cameron is also a strong student academically. She will be attending Vanderbilt University on a cross country/track & field scholarship.
