Lady Scots Track & Field Team Competes at Mustang Relays

Congratulations to the Lady Scots JV and Varsity Track & Field Teams as both won the Mustang Relays on Thursday, March 25th. The Varsity scored 279 points, and the JV scored 293 points. It was a great day!!

In the Varsity field events, Mason Prather placed 2nd in the discus and 4th in the shot put with a new PR of 30' 11.5", senior captain Claire Cochran won the high jump with a jump of 5' 0", and Ailey Fidler placed 3rd in the high jump and 1st in the pole vault with a vault of 8' 0". Hattie Speicher won the long jump with a jump of 17' 7" - a new PR, Raina Pietrzak placed 2nd, and Savannah Hinze was 3rd. In the pole vault, Emory Rhodes placed 2nd, and Katarina McIlveene placed 3rd. Ellie Jones set a new PR with a 5th place throw of 30' 0.5" in the shot put. In the triple jump, Speicher placed 2nd, Pietrzak 4th, and junior captain Abigail Schott placed 6th.

In the Varsity running events, Alli Grace Ott won the 3200 m run, Adelaide Aiken placed 5th - a new PR of 13:11.30, and Katie Taulbee was 6th. The 4 x 100 m relay set a season best of 49.21 and placed 1st - Hinze, Kate Rossley, Schott, and Katelyn Tanner. In the 800 m run, Charlotte Hudson set a new PR with a time of 2:27.47, and Grace Hathaway placed 4th. Hinze won the 100 m hurdles (16.38), Pietrzak placed 2nd, followed by Emory Rhodes in 3rd. Meredith Sims won the 100 m dash in a time of 12.39, and Claire Cochran placed 2nd.

The 4 x 200 m relay - Tanner, Rossley, Schott, and Pietrzak - set a new season best of 1:45.45 and placed 2nd. Senior captain Elle Thompson placed 1st in the 400 m dash in a time of 61.89, Kayla Dickerson placed 2nd, and Linda Bakich placed 4th. In the 300 m hurdles, Hinze placed 2nd, Speicher 3rd, and Emory Rhodes 4th. Tanner placed 2nd and Izzy Blaylock placed 5th in the 200 m dash.

Senior captain Cameron Fawcett won the 1600 m run and set a new school record with a time of 4:55.83. The previous record was 4:56.32 set in 2014 by Natalie Rathjen. Grace Hathaway placed 4th. The 4 x 400 m relay placed 1st and set a new season best of 4:02.90. The relay members were Schott, Blaylock, Thompson, and Pietrzak.

In the JV division, the following athletes placed in the field events: Peyton Stone (discus/shot put), Ellie Hopkins (discus/shot put), Lowell Shoaf (discus), Chloe Haag (high jump/triple jump), Caroline Jirovec (high jump/long jump), Scarlett Randall (high jump), Parker Wideman (long jump), Katherine Anne Massey (long jump/pole vault), Mia Green (pole vault), Katherine Ann Cochran (pole vault), Ali Reardon (triple jump), and Lily Baumgartner (triple jump).

In the JV running events, the following athletes placed: Ashley Goldman (3200 m run), Taylor Saphier (3200 m run), Katie Kennedy (3200 m run), 4 x 100 m relay (Wideman, Charlya Williams, Jirovec, and Emery Clarke), Sara Cavey (800 m run), Rylie Galanos (800 m run), Katelyn Turco (800 m run/1600 m run), Wideman (100 m hurdles/200 m dash), Haag (100 m hurdles/300 m hurdles), Katherine Ann Cochran (100 m hurdles), Massey (100 m dash/200 m dash), 4 x 200 m relay (Jirovec, Williams, India Roberts, Clarke), Mary Margaret Sell (400 m dash), Alexis Scott (400 m dash), Windsor Rhodes (400 m dash), Mia Green (300 m hurdles), Blair Stienke (300 m hurdles), Jirovec (200 m dash), Hadley Bornemann (1600 m run), and 4 x 400 m relay (Roberts, Green, Williams, Sell).

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the District 13-5A Championships at Royse City ISD Stadium. The JV meet will be Monday, March 29th. The field events start at 2:00 p.m., 3200 m run at 2:30 p.m., and the rest of the running events at 6:00 p.m.

The Varsity meet will be Tuesday, March 30th and Wednesday, March 31st. On the 30th, the field events start at 10:00 a.m., 3200 m run at 11:00 a.m., and the running prelims at 2:00 p.m. On the 31st, the field events start at 1:00 p.m., followed by the running finals at 6:05 p.m.
