Scots Soccer

On Feb 2 at Royse City, the Scots toughed through a defensive battle for a 3-0 win. Stymied was the offense of both teams until senior Davis Preszler scored on a header off an assist by senior Daniel Writer. Davis then caused Royse City to score on their own goal for a 2-0 lead for the Scots. In the second half, junior Jack Krejs was fouled in the box and junior Ritchie Paulus scored on the penalty kick. Scots defense was led by senior Preston Stones and sophomore Rhett Rapuzzi. Senior goalie Clay Van Eaton made numerous stops including a penalty kick to secure the shutout win.

On Feb 5, #1 in district HP hosted #2 North Forney at the Highlander. It was a battle of offenses and dueling goalies. Both teams competed to the last seconds when the game ended in a 1-1 tie. HP's lone goal was scored by senior Anthony Lanio from an assist by senior Michael Ngo. Midfield play lead by junior Ritchie Paulus gave the Scots the majority of possession time. The defense was lead by seniors, Preston Jones and Clay Van Eaton.

At this point, half way into the season, varsity's record is 7 wins, 2 losses, 3 ties, still in first place in district 5A-13. Go Scots!
