The gymnastics competed against ChisholmTrail last night in a dual that came down to the final buzzer, Horizontal Bar. The Scots won 4 of the six events but fell short on HB to miss the win by 1.7.
However, we had some great performances led by sophomore Clayton Staunton who won every single event with one “10.0”, three “9.9’s” and two “9.7’s” for a 59.1 (out of 60). Clay is now ranked the number one gymnast in the State.
Freshman John Sartain gave us depth with a 6th place in the All Around, Pommel Horse, Vault (9.4) and a 5th on Rings.
Senior Captain Xander McLendon had a personal best on Floor with a 9.3, good for 2nd place and a 9.2, 3rd place on Parallel Bars.
Alexander Miller kept us competitive on Pommel Horse with his pb 9.3, good for 2nd place and he was our #2 guy on Horizontal bar scoring an 8.0.
Other notables include:
Adam Harper 4th on vault with a 9.4
Senior Captain Tristan Brown’s 7th on Parallel Bars
Lance Lorio 6th on Rings and Vault (9.4)
William Benz 9th on Pommel Horse
Tommy Simpson 9th on Floor
