Lady Scots Cross Country Team Wins District 13-5A Championship

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed in the District 13-5A Championship Meet on Thursday, October 29th at Myers Park in McKinney. It was a very cold and windy day! In the Varsity Division, the team won the District Championship for the 42nd time out of 47 years. The team scored 16 points. Royse City placed 2nd with 57 points. Senior captain Cameron Fawcett led the team by winning her second straight District Championship with a time of 19:05.4. Sophomore Charlotte Hudson placed 2nd (20:13.2), senior Izzy Blaylock was the bronze medalist with a time of 20:28.3, junior Alli Grace Ott placed 4th (20:37.6), sophomore Grace Hathaway placed 6th (20:48.0), freshmen Ashley Goldman and Carolyn Flowers placed 10th and 13th respectively.

In the JV Division, the team also won the District Championship with 15 points. Crandall was 2nd with 62 points. The JV has never been beaten when they have had a team competing in the District Meet. All ten runners placed in the top ten. Freshman Rylie Galanos won the JV Division with a time of 22:04.6, freshman Katie Taulbee placed 2nd, senior Adelaide Aiken 3rd, senior Hollis Vaughan 4th, junior Hadley Bornemann 5th, junior Ava Murphy 6th, freshman Emory Rhodes 7th, junior Scarlett Randall 8th, sophomore Windsor Rhodes 9th, and junior Mary Margaret Sell 10th.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Region II-5A Meet at the Jesse Owens Sports Complex in Dallas on Monday, November 9th. The race begins at 2:00 p.m.
