Lady Scots Compete @ the Lovejoy Fall Festival

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed well at the Lovejoy Fall Festival Cross Country Meet on Saturday, October 17th at Myers Park in McKinney. In the Varsity Division, the Lady Scots placed 2nd with 61 points. Defending State Champions, Boerne Champion, won the meet with 59 points. There were seven teams and 66 runners in this division. Senior captain Cameron Fawcett won the meet with a personal best of 17:38.2. Sophomore Sara Cavey placed 8th with a personal best of 18:33.4. Sophomore Charlotte Hudson (18:51.8) and junior Alli Grace Ott (18:59.2) placed 13th and 18th respectively. Rounding out the top five for the Lady Scots was senior Izzy Blaylock (19:14.7) who placed 22nd. The other team members were freshman Ashley Goldman (20:22.5 – a new personal record), sophomore Grace Hathaway, and freshmen Carolyn Flowers (20:41.3 – a new personal record) and Rylie Galanos.

In the JV Girls’ Division, there were five teams and 84 runners. The Lady Scots placed 2nd with 49 points. Grapevine won the meet with 21 points. The top runner for the team was freshman Katie Taulbee who placed 3rd with a time of 21:06.9 (a new personal record). Junior Hadley Bornemann placed 8th with a season best of 21:41.8, and junior Hollis Vaughan placed 9th. The other top four team members were senior Adelaide Aiken and juniors Ava Murphy (new personal record - 22:33.4), Scarlett Randall (season best - 22:59.2), and Mary Margaret Sell (season best - 23:43.0).

Overall the team set 12 new personal records and seven new season bests. New personal records not listed above were senior Katarina McIlveene, freshman Adalyn Booth, sophomore Carly Steves, senior Dharma Kikkeri, and freshmen Elena Altschuler and Mary Susan Scheble. Season bests not listed above were senior Hannah Grace Blevins and junior Ellie Jones. Everyone did an incredible job racing on the challenging course. This will be the location of the District 13-5A Meet on October 29th.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the District 13-5A Meet. The Varsity Girls will race at 8:30 a.m., and the JV Girls will race at 12:00 p.m.
