Lady Scots Cross Country Team Competes at Mesquite/The Buff

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed well last Friday and Saturday. On the 9th, the Lady Scots won the Mesquite ISD JV Meet 3. The meet was held at Camp Rorie Galloway in Mesquite. The JV Gold Team scored 20 points, and all six runners placed in the top eight. Sophomore Chloe Haag led the team by placing 3rd with a time of 24:21.9 – a new season best and a new personal course record. Senior Katarina McIlveene placed 4th (24:55.0), freshman Adalyn Booth 5th (25:13.8), junior Mary Margaret Sell 6th (25:14.6 – a new personal course record), senior Dharma Kikkeri 7th (25:21.5 – a new personal course record), and sophomore Lauren Courtney 8th (26:01.0).

The JV Navy Team placed 2nd with 60 points. The team was led by junior Ellie Jones who placed 9th with a time of 26:06.1, and freshman Isabelle Smith placed 10th with a time of 26:30.7. The other team members were freshman Mary Susan Scheble, freshman Sadie Smythe, senior captain Lynne Bush, and sophomore Lauren Leyrer.

On Saturday, October 10th, the Lady Scots Varsity Team won the Fossil Ridge High School, Run of the Panther Meet. The meet was held at The Buff in Haltom City which is a very challenging and fun course. The team scored 15 points. There were four teams and 37 runners in this division. Senior captain Cameron Fawcett won the meet with a time of 18:27.78. Sophomore Sara Cavey placed 2nd (18:51.46), junior Alli Grace Ott 3rd (19:16.56), sophomore Charlotte Hudson 4th (19:21.97), senior Izzy Blaylock 5th (19:50.56), and sophomore Grace Hathaway 6th (19:54.62). The other team members were freshmen Ashley Goldman (21:02.61) and Rylie Galanos (21:27.54).

In the JV Division, the team also placed 1st with 15 points. There were five teams and 41 runners. Freshman Carolyn Flowers placed 1st with a time of 21:23.45, senior Elle Thompson placed 2nd (21:37.23), freshman Katie Taulbee 3rd (21:52.19), senior Adelaide Aiken 4th (22:12.84), junior Hadley Bornemann 5th (22:21.61), junior Lily Baumgartner 5th (23:14.29 – a new season best), junior Ava Murphy 9th (23:17.11), freshman Kate Denton 10th (23:17.24 – a new personal record), and junior Scarlett Randall 12th (23:24.74 – a new season best).

The Lady Scots will be competing at the Lovejoy Fall Festival on Saturday, October 17th at Myers Park in McKinney. The Varsity race begins at 7:30 a.m. and the JV races at 9:00 a.m.
