Lady Scots Cross Country Team Competes at Mesquite & Flower Mound

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team had a busy two days last Friday and Saturday. On October 2nd, the Lady Scots competed in the Mesquite ISD JV Meet 2 at Camp Rorie Galloway in Mesquite. There were six teams and 43 runners. The JV Gold Team won the meet with 20 points. Junior Ava Murphy led the team with a first place finish. She set a new personal record with a time of 22:53.0. Senior Hannah Thayer placed 2nd (23:47.7), sophomore Windsor Rhodes placed 4th (24:18.1), sophomore Chloe Haag placed 6th (24:38.1), and freshman Adalyn Booth placed 7th (24:50.2) – a new personal record. The other team members were Carly Steves, Lauren Courtney, Dharma Kikkeri, Allison Cannon, and Isabella Reynolds.

The JV Navy Team placed 2nd with 71 points. Freshman Elena Altschuler led the team by placing 10th with a time of 25:23.4. Junior Zoe Wilcox placed 13th (25:42.7) – a new personal record. The other team members were Isabelle Smith, Mary Susan Scheble, senior captain Lynne Bush, Brantley Diehl, Ava Haberer, and Natalie Van Arsdale.

On Saturday, October 3rd, the Lady Scots competed in the Flower Mound Invitational at Shadow Ridge Middle School. In the Varsity division, there were six teams and 53 runners. The Lady Scots won the meet with 17 points. Coppell placed 2nd with 58 points. Senior captain Cameron Fawcett won the meet with a personal best of 17:55.15. Sophomore Charlotte Hudson placed 2nd (18:45.62) – a new personal record, sophomore Sara Cavey placed 3rd (18:47.43) – a new personal record), senior Izzy Blaylock placed 5th (19:11.61) – a new personal record, junior Alli Grace Ott placed 6th (19:12.58), and sophomore Grace Hathaway placed 8th (19:42.79). The other team members were Ashley Goldman, Rylie Galanos, Adelaide Aiken, and Ella Madden.

In the JV division, the team placed 2nd with 39 points. Grapevine won the meet with 39 points. In cross country, a tie is broken by the 6th place team finisher. There were six team and 49 runners in this division. Freshman Katie Taulbee won the meet with a time of 21:08.57. Freshman Steele Scripps placed 3rd (21:16.81), and senior Hollis Vaughan placed 8th (21:46.90). The other team members were Emory Rhodes, Hadley Bornemann, Julia Yates, Ferndanda Galvan, Kate Denton, Scarlett Randall, and Lily Baumgartner.

Overall, the Lady Scots set 15 new personal records: Adelaide Aiken, Izzy Blaylock, Adalyn Booth, Lynne Bush, Sara Cavey, Kate Denton, Brantley Diehl, Cameron Fawcett, Rylie Galanos, Ashley Goldman, Charlotte Hudson, Ava Murphy, Natalie Van Arsdale, Zoe Wilcox, and Julia Yates.

The Lady Scots will be competing in the Mesquite ISD JV Meet 3 on Friday, October 9th. The race begins at 8:00 a.m. at Camp Rorie Galloway. The team will also be competing in the Fossil Ridge Run of the Panther at The Buff in Ft. Worth on Saturday, October 10th. The Varsity races at 7:30 a.m. and the JV races at 9:00 a.m.
