Lady Scots Cross Country Teams Compete @ Mesquite ISD and Jaguar Invitational

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed at the Mesquite ISD JV Meet 1 on Friday, September 18th and the Jaguar Two Mile Invitational on Saturday, September 19th. Everyone had a great week of practice, and it paid off in competition.

HP had two JV teams competing at the Mesquite Meet. The Gold Team placed first with 15 points and the Navy team placed 2nd with 50 points. The JV Gold was led by sophomore Fernanda Galvan as she placed 1st with a time of 23:12.3 on the three mile course. Julia Yates placed 2nd (23:19.3), and Lily Baumgartner placed 3rd (23:51.1). The other team members were Kate Denton, Hannah Thayer, Windsor Rhodes, Flora Solymosi, Mary Margaret Sell, Allison Cannon, and Chloe Haag.

Freshman Adalyn Booth led the JV Navy Team by placing 8th with a time of 25:25.1. Sobie Nieto placed 10th (25:39.4) and Lauren Courtney placed 11th (25:45.9). The other team members were Hannah Grace Blevins, Isabella Reynolds, Carly Steves, Zoe Wilcox, Olivia Cormier, Sadie Smythe, and senior captain Allison Brown.

The Lady Scots also competed well on Saturday at the Jaguar Invitational in Flower Mound. The Varsity won the meet with 32 points. Waxahachie was second with 60 points. There were seven teams and 54 runners in the two mile race. Senior captain Cameron Fawcett led the Lady Scots by placing second with a time of 11:17.41. Junior Alli Grace Ott placed 5th with a time of 11:51.73, and sophomore Charlotte Hudson placed 6th with a time of 11:52.17. Sophomore Sara Cavey placed 8th and set a new personal record with a time of 11:56.05. Senior Izzy Blaylock placed 11th with a time of 12:05.53 and also set a new personal record. The other team members were Grace Hathaway, Ashley Goldman, Rylie Galanos, and Carolyn Flowers.

In the JV division, the team placed 1st with 31 points. Coppell placed 2nd with 82 points. There were seven teams and 60 runners in this division. Sophomore Ella Madden placed 3rd with a time of 13:23.87, freshman Katie Taulbee placed 4th (13:24.36), and freshman Steele Scripps placed 6th (13:28.81). The other team members were Adelaide Aiken, Hadley Bornemann, Hollis Vaughan, Emory Rhodes, Gracie Spillman, Ava Byrd, and Katelyn Turco.

There were 10 new two mile personal records: Izzy Blaylock, Hadley Bornemann, Ava Byrd, Sara Cavey, Ashley Goldman, Grace Hathaway, Emory Rhodes, Gracie Spillman, Katelyn Turco, and Hollis Vaughan.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Coppell Invite 1 on Saturday, September 26th. The Varsity race begins at 7:30 a.m. The meet will be held at Coppell Middle School West.
