The Varsity Tennis Team travelled to Waco February 28th and 29th to compete in the first ever Universal Tennis Rating National High School Tournament. Competition included the best teams in the Nation, including teams from Texas, California, Nevada and Arizona. Involved were 6A, 5A and private high schools including tennis-centered academies.
The boys and girls played in a college format setting, separately from each other, 3 doubles and 6 singles lines for each dual match.
Both HP teams were placed in the Diamond Division, the highest draw.
The HP boys fought hard against 4 teams - fighting until the end:
San Antonio Reagan 5-1
Austin Lake Travis 5-4 with thrilling singles tiebreak winning matches by Sophomore Ray Saalfield and Senior McKay Harman to secure the win
Austin Tennis Academy College Prep 4-5
Plano West 3-5
Players contributing for the boys included Rhett Bailey and Skyler Carter, Peyton Dooley and Ray Saalfield, McKay Harman and Harold Glasscock, Kyle Bezprovanny and Leo Hall.
The HP Girls defeated their three opponents to take the National Title.
