Lady Scots Compete at Newman Smith Trojan Relays

The Lady Scots Track & Field Teams competed at the Newman Smith Trojan Relays on Saturday, February 15th. Both teams competed very well – the Varsity placed 3rd out of 10 teams and the JV placed 2nd out of 11 teams. Frisco Heritage won the Varsity Division and Coppell won the JV Division.

In the Varsity Division, senior captain Olivia Conner tied for 3rd in the high jump with a jump of 5’ 0”, set a new PR in the long jump (15’ 10 ¾”), 4th in the 100 m hurdles (17.03), and 2nd in the 300 m hurdles (50.01). Senior captain Alie Lavish tied for 3rd in the high jump with a jump of 5’ 0” and set a new PR in the 200 m dash (27.42), and junior Claire Cochran placed 4th in the long jump (16’ 10 ½”), 4th in the triple jump and set a new personal record (33’ 0”), and 3rd in the 100 m hurdles (15.32). Sophomore Abigail Schott placed 5th in the long jump (a new PR), junior Kendall Ferguson placed 6th in the pole vault (tied her PR), senior Rebekah Miller set a new PR in the pole vault (7’ 6”), senior Alexis Sharrieff placed 6th in the shot put (a new PR), and senior Erin Harper placed 2nd in the triple jump with a jump of 34’ 1 ½”. Junior Cameron Fawcett placed 2nd in the 3200 m run and set a new PR (11:21.50) and 3rd in the 800 m run (2:20.00). Sophomore Alli Grace Ott placed 5th in the 3200 m run (11:49.29) and 6th in the 1600 m run with a time of 5:33.27 (a new PR), junior Elle Thompson placed 6th in the 800 m run (2:23.86 – a new personal record) and 3rd in the 400 m dash (61.90 – a new personal record). Junior captain Ella Patterson placed 4th in the 100 m dash (12.31) and junior Izzy Blaylock set a new PR in the 400 m dash with a time of 65.23. Senior captain Mary Warriner Kemp placed 6th in the 200 m dash and set a new PR (26.36). The 4 x 100 m relay placed 1st with a time of 49.39 – Ella Patterson, Clair Cochran, Abigail Schott, and Erin Harper. The 4 x 200 m relay placed 2nd with a time of 1:45.32 – Patterson, Cochran, Mary Warriner Kemp, and Harper. The 4 x 400 m relay placed 3rd with a time of 4:11.83 – Harper, Elle Thompson, Schott, and Cameron Fawcett.

In the JV Division, Mason Prather placed 2nd in the discus, 6th in the shot put, 5th in the 3200 m run, and 4th in the 1600 m run. Caroline Morton placed 4th in the high jump, and Scarlett Randall and Mary Margaret Sell tied for 6th in the high jump. Sell also placed 5th in the 400 m dash. Hattie Speicher won the long jump and triple jump, placed 6th in the 100 m hurdles and 2nd in the 300 m hurdles. Savannah Hinze placed 2nd in the long jump, 5th in the triple jump, 1st in the 100 m hurdles, and 6th in the 100 m dash. Kate Rossley placed 4th in the long jump, and Katherine Anne Massey placed 5th in the long jump and in the 300 m hurdles. Sylvie Henry placed 5th in the pole vault, Linda Bakich placed 2nd in the 400 m dash and 4th in the 200 m dash, Mia Green placed 4th in the 300 m hurdles and Emily Adams placed 6th. In the 1600 m run, Hadley Bornemann placed 5th and Katie Kennedy placed 6th. The 4 x 100 m relay placed 1st – Speicher, Rossley, India Roberts, and Charlya Williams. The 4 x 200 m relay placed 3rd – Katelyn Tanner, Rossley, Roberts, and Williams, and the 4 x 400 m relay placed 4th – Williams, Sell, Alexis Scott, and Tanner.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Legacy Bronco Relays at Legacy High School on Saturday, February 22nd. The field events begin at 8:00 a.m., the 3200 m run will start at 10:00 a.m., and the running finals will start at 12:30 p.m.
