Lady Scots Cross Country Team District 11-5A Champions

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed in the District 11-5A Championship Meet on Thursday, October 17th at Myers Park in McKinney. In the Varsity Division, the team won the District Championship for the 41st time out of 46 years. The team scored 16 points. Junior Cameron Fawcett led the team by placing 1st with a time of 18:40.9. Freshman Charlotte Hudson ran a personal best with a time of 19:06.2 and placed 2nd. The 3rd place finisher was sophomore Alli Grace Ott with a time of 19:16.3, and freshman Grace Hathaway placed 4th with a time of 19:55.4. The other team members were junior Izzy Blaylock (6th), sophomore Hadley Bornemann (8th), and junior Hollis Vaughan (12th).

In the JV Division, the team also won the District Championship with 15 points. The JV has never been beaten when they have had a team competing in the District Meet. Junior Elle Thompson won this division with a time of 20:54.9, and freshman Fernanda Galvan placed 2nd with a time of 21:14.1. Senior captain Annemarie Whalen placed 3rd with a season best of 21:23.7, and freshman Meryl Katz set a new personal record with a time of 21:38.8 and placing 4th. The other top three runners were junior Adelaide Aiken (5th), sophomores Avery Turner (6th) and Katelyn Turco (8th) – all three set new personal records.

The Lady Scots set 32 new personal records, 5 new season bests, and 22 new District Meet personal records. The following Lady Scots set new personal records (not listed above): Mary Margaret Sell, Kate Allen, Elle Muenker, Avery Owens, Hannah Thayer, Emily Hea, Kennedy Foy, Caroline Dugan, Scarlett Randall, Finley Arnold, Windsor Rhodes, Ellie Jones, Allison Cannon, Ava Murphy, Lauren Courtney, Joyce Jiang, Brennan Jordan, Dharma Kikkeri, Flora Solymosi, Ava Haberer, Julia Yates, Mia O’Neil, Alexandra Jack, Anna Haggar, and Isabella Reynolds. It was a great day to be a Lady Scot!! The coaches are so proud of the team. The team is made up of a very special group of young ladies who are carrying on the tradition of excellence.

A big thank you to all of the parent volunteers and HPISD employees who helped with the meet. HP could not have hosted the meet without your help! We appreciate you so much!

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Region II-5A Meet at the Jesse Owens Sports Complex in Dallas on Monday, October 28th. The race begins at 12:00 p.m.
