Congratulations to the Lady Scots Track & Field Team as the team placed 3rd at the Region II-5A Meet on Friday and Saturday. The team had an incredible two days!! The team scored 58 points. McKinney North won the meet with 88 points followed by Lancaster with 73 points.

Senior captain Maddy Stephens placed 2nd in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:16.13 and qualified for the UIL State Meet. Sophomore Ella Patterson also qualified for the UIL State Meet by placing 2nd in the 400 meter dash with a season best time of 56.45. The 4 x 400 meter relay qualified for the UIL State Meet by placing 2nd. The team set a new personal record with a time of 3:54.51 in the prelims. In the finals, the team clocked in at 3:56.22. The team members were sophomore Elle Thompson, senior captain Maddy Stephens, junior Mary Warriner Kemp, and sophomore Ella Patterson.

Junior captain Olivia Conner placed 6th in the high jump. She tied her personal record with a jump of 5' 2".
She also ran the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles. Sophomore Cameron Fawcett placed 3rd in the 3200 meter run - set a new personal record with a time of 11:22.87. She placed 10th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:27.63 and placed 6th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:23.16. Cameron did an outstanding job racing all three long races!! She is the second Lady Scot to do this - the first one was Olivia Scott in 2017. Freshman Alli Grace Ott placed 5th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:38.81.

The 4 x 100 meter relay placed 8th (set a new personal record in the prelims - 48.27) – the team members were sophomores Meredith Sims and Claire Cochran, freshman Abigail Schott, and sophomore Ella Patterson. Sophomore Isabel Blaylock placed 7th in the 800 meter run and 8th in the 1600 meter run. The 4 x 200 meter relay medaled by placing 3rd (set a new personal record with a time of 1:42.10) – the team members were sophomores Meredith Sims and Claire Cochran, freshman Abigail Schott, and junior Erin Harper. Meredith Sims placed 4th in the 300 meter hurdles. She set a new school record with a time of 44.74 – the previous record was set by Gracie Bailey in 2014. She also placed 11th in the long jump (16' 2 1/4") and 14th in the triple jump (34' 2 1/4").

The following Lady Scots also competed at the Region II-5A Meet: junior Alie Lavish - high jump, sophomore Emory Brink - high jump, sophomore Claire Cochran - long jump and 100 meter hurdles, junior Olivia Briggs - long jump and triple jump (set a new PR with a jump of 35' 3 1/4"), junior Erin Harper - triple jump, senior captain Ella Brown - pole vault (tied her PR with a vault of 9' 0"), junior Phoebe Spackman - pole vault, sophomore Kendall Ferguson - pole vault, junior Melenaite Pahulu - shot put, sophomore Sophia Oliai - 3200 meter run and 1600 meter run, senior Anastasia Helms - 100 meter hurdles, and junior Mary Warriner Kemp - 400 meter dash.

The UIL State Track & Field Meet will be held on Friday, May 10th at Mike Myers Stadium in Austin. The athletes will compete at 6:00 p.m., 8:15 p.m. and 10:25 p.m.
