Lady Scots Track & Field Teams Compete at Mesquite and Texas Relays

The Lady Scots Varsity Track & Field Team competed very well at the Mesquite ISD Invitational on Friday, March 29th and the 92nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin on Friday, March 29th and Saturday, March 30th.

At the Mesquite ISD Invitational, the team placed 12th. Eight individuals set new personal records – Alexis Sharrieff (discus), Ashley Nelson (triple jump and 100 m hurdles), Breanne Spence (800 m run), Margaret Kemp (800 meter run and 1600 meter run), senior captain Ella Brown (100 m hurdles), Sara Carlisle (100 m dash), Kate Rossley (200 m dash), and Lola Rodriguez (1600 m run).

Sophomore Olivia Briggs placed 4th in the triple jump with a jump of 35’ ¾” – a season best. Junior captain Gracyn Applegate placed 6th in the 3200 m run (12:53.65), junior Breanne Spence placed 4th in the 800 m run (2:28.02), junior captain Olivia Conner placed 3rd in the high jump (4’ 10”) and 5th in the 100 m hurdles (16.52 – a season best). The 4 x 200 m relay placed 6th (1:56.51 – team members were Rebekah Miller, Alie Lavish, senior captain Ashley Booe, and Olivia Briggs). The 4 x 400 m relay placed 5th (4:22.07 – team members were junior captain Olivia Conner, Breanne Spence, Hadley Bornemann, and Rebekah Miller).

At the Texas Relays, the team competed in seven events. Sophomore Claire Cochran ran well in the 100 m hurdles (16.38). The 4 x 200 M Relay placed 26th out of 42 teams and set a new personal record – 1:44.38. The team members were sophomores Meredith Sims and Claire Cochran, freshman Abigail Schott, and junior Erin Harper.

The Sprint Medley Relay placed 7th out of 17 teams with a time of 4:07.75 (a new personal record) – the school record is 4:07.30. The relay members were Claire Cochran, Abigail Schott, sophomore Ella Patterson, and senior captain Maddy Stephens. The 4 x 400 M Relay placed 19th out of 69 teams with a time of 4:02.01 (a new personal record). The relay members were sophomore Emma Means, captain Maddy Stephens, junior Mary Warriner Kemp, and Ella Patterson.

The Distance Medley Relay placed 7th out of 23 teams with a time of 12:34.81 – a new personal record. The team members were sophomores Cameron Fawcett, Ella Patterson, Elle Thompson, and Izzy Blaylock. The 4 x 100 M Relay also competed well (50.91). The team members were Meredith Sims, Erin Harper, Abigail Schott, and Emma Means.

The final relay for the Lady Scots on Saturday was the 4 x 800 M Relay. The team placed 6th out of 26 teams with a time of 9:35.43 – a new personal record.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the District 11-5A Championship Meet on Thursday, April 4th and Friday, April 5th at Standridge Stadium in Carrollton. On Thursday, the meet starts at 9:00 a.m. with the 3200 meter run. The field events also start at 9:00 a.m., and the running prelims start at 1:00 p.m. On Friday, the field events start at 9:00 a.m., followed by the running finals at 1:15 p.m.
