The Lay Witnesses For Christ International (LWFCI) hosted a banquet on Monday, March 19th at the DFW Airport Marriott in Irving. Three HPHS athletes were honored as Texas Christian Athlete of the Year Semi-Finalists. The athletes were junior Ashley Turner – a varsity basketball player, senior Emily Nelson – a cross country captain and a track/field athlete, and Grayson Willis – a cross country captain.

Emily Nelson also won the Courage Award. According to the LWFCI progam, “The Wayne and Avon Langston ‘Courage Award’ is given in recognition of a dear family who has exhibited incredible courage through several challenging circumstances.”
