The Lady Scots Cross Country Team had a great race day at the 41st Greenhill 6-Mile Relay on Saturday, August 29th at Norbuck Park in Dallas.
In the 6A/5A Varsity Girls Division, there were 36 teams, and the Lady Scots placed 1st and 7th. The relay members for the 1st place team were junior Finley Heckler, sophomore Adelaide Wortman, senior captain Ryan Sontag, and junior Paisley Bassett. The relay time was 35:12 – the 2nd fastest relay time in the history of the Lady Scots. The 7th place relay members were senior Annie Cooper, freshmen Ella Marie Hooks and Hadleigh Raynor, and sophomore Stella Pruett. The relay time was 38:05 – the 26th fastest relay time in the history of the Lady Scots.
In the Junior Varsity “A” Girls Division, there were 39 teams. HP had two teams compete in this division. The teams placed 3rd and 6th. The 3rd place relay members were freshmen Sloane Odom and Perry Doffermyre, senior Campbell Ragan, and freshman Madison Baskin. The 6th place team consisted of senior Jenna McCombs, junior Irene Cooper, freshman Madeline Lewis, and junior Charlotte Hodges.
In the Junior Varsity “B” Girls Division, there were 35 teams. HP had eight teams compete in this division. The top two HP teams placed 6th and 8th. The relay members for the 6th place team were senior Avi Levy, senior captain Emery Paulsen, sophomore Juliet Facini, and junior Hannah Orvananos Cardenas. The relay members for the 8th place team were junior Haven Hyatt, sophomore Natalia Garcia Villalon, freshman Emma August, and sophomore Alexandra Deuillet.
The following athletes set new personal course records: senior Annie Cooper, juniors Finley Heckler and Haven Hyatt, senior Jenna McCombs, sophomores Stella Pruett and Evelyn Shull, senior captain Ryan Sontag, junior Kate Swaldi, and senior Alejandra Villasana.
The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Coach T – Marcus Invitational at North Lakes Park in Denton. The first race begins at 6:50 a.m.
