Lady Scots Track & Field Athletes Compete Well At the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays

Congratulations to the Lady Scots Track & Field athletes who competed at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Thursday, April 2nd, Friday, April 3rd, and Saturday, April 4th in Austin. The team qualified to compete at the Relays in the Distance Medley Relay and the 4 x 800 M Relay. The team also competed in the 4 x 400 M Relay.

The first race for the Lady Scots was the Distance Medley Relay on Thursday. The team placed 9th out of 17 teams with a time of 12:17.72. The relay team set a new school record. The team members were Presley Pate (1200), Kate McCarty (400), Ryan Sontag (800), and Finley Heckler (1600). The alternates were Stella Pruett and senior captain Maddie Heckler. The previous record was 12:18.33 set in 2023 by Kayla Dickerson, Georgia Jones, Caroline Scott, and Charlotte Hudson.

The second race for the Lady Scots was the 4 x 400 M Relay on Friday. The team placed 36th out of 56 teams with a time of 4:04.77. The team members were senior captain Gracelyn Nix, Devon Schumacher, Stella Pruett, and Kate McCarty. The alternates were Adelaide Wortman, Presley Pate, and Ryan Sontag.

The final relay for the Lady Scots was the 4 x 800 M Relay on Saturday. The team medaled by placing 3rd out of 13 teams with a time of 9:30.50 – a new personal record. The team members were Ryan Sontag, Adelaide Wortman, Presley Pate, and Paisley Bassett. The alternates were senior captain Maddie Heckler and Finley Heckler.

The Texas Relays is an amazing event with high school teams, college teams, and professional athletes. It’s a great atmosphere for the sport of track & field!
