Tri-Meet vs. Bryan Adams and Woodrow Wilson High Schools
October 21, 2025 - HPISD Natatorium

Meet Overview
The Highland Park Blue Wave continued its dominant start to the season with an impressive showing at home against Dallas Woodrow Wilson and Dallas Bryan Adams. The Scots and Lady Scots both came away with decisive team victories, as the boys defeated Woodrow Wilson 91–45 and Bryan Adams 91–34, while the girls topped Bryan Adams 96–55 and Woodrow Wilson 96–19.

The meet reflected the team’s hallmark combination of focus, unity, and steady improvement. Highland Park swimmers tallied an incredible 97 lifetime best times across all events, reinforcing the Blue Wave’s season-long theme of growth and consistency through effort.

Lady Scots Highlights
The Lady Scots dominated from start to finish, using depth and teamwork to sweep multiple events and relays.
* 200 Medley Relay - The “A” relay of Maddy Persefield (Sr.), Lydia Westcott (Sr.), Rita Martin (Fr.), and Maggie Peus (So.) opened the meet with a decisive win in 2:01.99, while the “B” relay of Katherine Gill, Isabella Arnold, Naomi Nguyen, and Taylor Ramo secured second to complete a 1-2 Highland Park finish
* Individual standouts:
* Jadyn Sun (Fr.) delivered another standout performance, claiming first in both the 200 Freestyle (1:56.40) and the 100 Backstroke (1:03.01), continuing her undefeated streak in individual events this season
* Maggie Peus (So.) had a strong double, taking 1st in the 200 IM (2:30.32) and 2nd in the 100 Freestyle (1:00.71)
* Lydia Westcott (Sr.) showcased her veteran leadership by winning the 100 Breaststroke (1:08.88) and 500 Freestyle (5:41.12)
* Maddy Persefield (Sr.) added silver-medal finishes in the 100 Butterfly (1:09.18) and 100 Backstroke (1:08.29)
* Gianna Holdridge (So.) and Rita Martin (Fr.) added scoring power through strong performances in the 200 IM, 100 Fly, and relays
* 400 Freestyle Relay - The Lady Scots sealed the meet with a statement win as Peus, Arnold, Persefield, and Sun combined for a time of 3:56.97, finishing well ahead of the field and capping a near perfect team performance

Scots Highlights
The Scots men matched the energy of their teammates, dominating both relays and individual events with impressive team depth and execution.
* 200 Medley Relay - The team of Henry Westcott (So.), Daniel Li (So.), Nathan Chan (Jr.), and Dylan Nguyen (Jr.) opened the meet with a fast 1:42.99, taking first place and setting the tone for the rest of the night
* Sprint Events:
* Nathan Chan (Jr.) earned the win in the 50 Freestyle (22.70) and took 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke (1:03.58), contributing key anchor legs in the relays as well
* Dylan Nguyen (Jr.) was sharp in the 100 Freestyle (51.91) and added a 2nd in the 100 Backstroke (1:01.37)
* Aidan Zahodnik (So.) claimed victory in the 100 Backstroke (59.78) and added a podium finish in the 50 Free (24.46)
* Distance & IM:
* Henry Westcott (So.) won the 500 Freestyle (5:06.64) in a wire-to-wire finish and later added strong points in the 100 Breaststroke (1:09.88)
* Harrison Howarth (So.) finished 2nd in the 500 Freestyle (5:28.25) and helped secure the team’s final victory in the 400 Free Relay
* Dhruv Bhandarkar (Fr.) picked up a decisive win in the 200 IM (2:13.54) and contributed on the winning 400 Free Relay, anchoring a strong all-around meet
* Relays:
* The Scots swept both freestyle relays. The quartet of Nguyen, Bhandarkar, Zahodnik, and Chan won the 200 Free Relay (1:33.75), while Bhandarkar, Westcott, Whitcomb, and Howarth closed out the night with a dominant win in the 400 Free Relay (3:37.07)

Swimmers of the Meet
Captains selected the following athletes for their leadership, performance, and team impact:
* Arabella Frizell (Fr.) – Broke through with strong performances in the 100 Free and 100 Breaststroke, adding poise and energy to relays.
Jadyn Sun (Fr.) – Undefeated in individual events, and contributing to A relays with championship-level consistency.
* Price Whitcomb (Jr.) – Contributed crucial points in the IM and relay events, showing technical growth and reliability.
* Harrison Howarth (So.) – Demonstrated endurance and race strategy in the 500 Free and anchored relays with confidence.

Final Thoughts & Next Meet
The dual and tri-meet stretch has been a defining chapter in the Blue Wave’s early season progress. Ninety-seven lifetime best swims reflected the athletes’ focus on details, technical progress, and competitive spirit. From the relays to the last heats, Highland Park demonstrated a unified commitment to racing for each other.

The Scots and Lady Scots will return to the pool to host Frisco Wakeland and Frisco Centennial on Thursday, November 6th at 6:00 p.m. at the HPISD Natatorium. The Blue Wave looks to keep the momentum rolling into November as they continue their journey toward championship season.
