LADY SCOTS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM WINS DISTRICT 7-6A CHAMPIONSHIP

Lady Scots Cross Country Team Wins District 7-6A Championship

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed in the District 7-6A Championship Meet on Thursday, October 12th at Myers Park in McKinney. In the Varsity Division, the team won the District Championship for the 45th time out of 49 years. The team scored 32 points. Sophomore Maddie Heckler led the team by winning the gold medal with a time of 19:07.8. The other top 10 finishers were senior Kayla Dickerson placed 5th with a time of 19:50.1, freshman Claire Deeken placed 7th with a time of 20:01.9, and junior Samantha Meck placed 8th with a time of 20:14.6. The other team members were Ryan Sontag, Katie Taulbee, and Caroline Scott.

In the JV Division, the team also won the District Championship with 15 points. The JV has never been beaten when they have had a team competing in the District Meet. Gracie Spillman won the gold medal with a time of 20:42.4, Varsha Ravi won the silver medal with a time of 20:47.3, and Hayden Gray won the bronze medal with a time of 20:58.6. Rounding out the top seven were Presley Pate, Campbell Dean, Tessa Nurre, and Campbell Ragan.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Region I-6A Meet at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock on Tuesday, October 24th. The race begins at 9:00 a.m.
