The Running Scots competed well at the Southlake XC Invitational on Saturday morning at Bob Jones Park. The Varsity Elite team of Jacob Baumgartner, Bennett Blevins, Jackson Dean, Luke Hall, William Jaudes, Luke Smith, and Frankie Stewart finished 18th out of 42 teams in a field that included 9 state qualifiers and two state champions in the 5A-6A Conferences from 2022. Junior Bennett Blevins led the team with an outstanding performance finishing 96th overall and running a personal best time of 16:08.6. All seven runners finished with a split of only 46 seconds - fourth best among teams competing in the Elite Division. In the Varsity Open Division the team finished 21st overall. Senior Max Villasana led the team by posting a personal best time of 17:39.2 and finishing 79th overall in a field of over 454 runners. The Junior Varsity finished 13th in the two-mile race and were led by Junior Spencer Luu who improved his two-mile time from last week by over two minutes. Luu finished 45th overall in a field of close to 400 runners. 13 Varsity runners finished with personal best times on Saturday. The Golden Spike Award for Varsity Runner of the Week goes to Bennett Blevins, and JV Runner of the Week honors go to Spencer Luu. The team will compete this Saturday, September 2nd, at the Marcus Coach T Invitational at North Lakes Park in Denton. Varsity Elite race time is 6:45 AM. Go Scots!!
