The Running Scots got off to a great start on Friday night at McInnish Park in Carrollton! The team competed well in the Friday Night Lights Hawk Invitational hosted by Lewisville Hebron High School. In the Elite Varsity Division the team finished 3rd overall in a close race for the top spot with Regional rivals Arlington Sam Houston and Lewisville Hebron. The varsity team of Jackson Dean, William Jaudes, Bennett Blevins, Luke Smith, Frankie Stewart, Jacob Baumgartner, and Luke Hall all finished in the top 23 inidividual runners, and within 24 seconds of each other. Senior Captain William Jaudes led the team finishing 10th overall with a time of 10:18.8. Luke Smith and Bennett Blevins also finished in the top 15. Five runners finished in the top 19 overall. The Junior Varsity finished 2nd in the team standings and were led by top ten finishes turned in by Senior Max Villasana and Sophomore Akash Shah. Overall the team had 18 runners improve on 2 mile performances from May and June. The Varsity runner of the week is Sophomore Jacob Baumgartner who ran a personal best time of 10:36.7 in very warm conditions. The JV runner of the week is Senior Max Villasana who led his team with a top 5 finish. The Running Scots compete next Saturday at the Southlake XC Invitational at Bob Jones Park.
