Congratulations to the Lady Scots Cross Country Team as they placed 5th with 167 points at the UIL Region I-6A Championship Meet on Monday, October 24th. Freshman Maddie Heckler led the team by placing 11th with a time of 18:42.3, and senior Charlotte Hudson placed 14th with a time of 18:45.9. Both of these Lady Scots qualified for the State Meet. The other team members were junior Kayla Dickerson, sophomore Ellie Preston, juniors Ashley Goldman and Gracie Spillman, and sophomore Samantha Meck. The alternates were Julia Berlin, Campbell Dean, Hayden Gray, Varsha Ravi, Caroline Scott, and Julia Yates.

The coaches are so proud of the team! Region I is the toughest region in 6A and the team competed extremely well! They continued the tradition within the program of having either a team or individual compete at the UIL State Meet since 1975 – the first year for the UIL to allow girls to compete in cross country.

This is the first time Highland Park has competed in Region I and raced at Mae Simmons Park at the Regional Meet.

The top four teams and top ten individuals not a part of these teams qualify for the UIL Class 6A State Championship on Friday, November 4th at 10:00 a.m.

Go Scots!
