Lady Scots Cross Country Team Races at McKinney Boyd Meet

The Lady Scots Cross Country Team competed very well at the McKinney Boyd Meet on Saturday, September 7th at Myers Park in McKinney. The course was very challenging including several long hills. In the 6A Varsity Division, the team placed 2nd with 29 points. McKinney Boyd won the meet with 27 points. There were 6 teams and 45 runners in this division. Junior Cameron Fawcett placed 1st with a time of 19:02.17 (a new meet course personal record), and sophomore Alli Grace Ott placed 2nd with a time of 19:41.79. Freshmen Charlotte Hudson placed 7th (20:26.04) and Ella Madden placed 8th (20:33.47 – a new personal record). The other team members were freshman Grace Hathaway and senior captains Annemarie Whalen and Gracyn Applegate. Annemarie ran a season best of 22:17.59.

In the 5A & Under Varsity Division, the team placed 3rd with 124 points. Celina won this division with 41 points. There were 14 teams and 107 runners. The top runner for the Lady Scots was junior Hollis Vaughan. She placed 26th with a time of 23:28.99. Sophomores Sterling Willis and Scarlett Randall were right behind Hollis as they placed 27th and 28th, respectively. The other team members were freshman Kennedy Foy (set a new personal record with a time of 23:41.00), junior Avery Turner, and seniors Finley Arnold and Ava Crofford.

In the JV Division, he Lady Scots placed 2nd with 84 points. McKinney Boyd won the division with 47 points. There were 19 teams and 197 runners. The top runner for the JV was senior captain Kate Allen as she placed 8th with a time of 23:42.68 (a new personal record). Freshman Chloe Haag placed 14th and senior Emily Hea placed 17th. The other top four team members were freshman Avery Owens (set a new personal record of 24:26.81), sophomore Katelyn Turco, and freshmen Windsor Rhodes and Meryl Katz.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Coppell Invitational on Saturday, September 14th. The meet will be held at Coppell Middle School West, and the first race is at 7:30 a.m.
