SENIORS MAKE NATIONAL TEAM, TEAM FINISHES 9TH AT STATE

Seniors make National Team, Team finishes 9th at State

The Lady Scots Gymnastics Team finished their season with an appearance at the State Championships for the 7th year in a row. The Lady Scots were 9th as a team moving up 12th place on Day 1. Although the team came home with no medals, the Senior Captains, Tatum Meeks and Katherine Downing were named to the Texas team competing at Nationals in May. Tatum and Katherine will represent Highland Park and the State of Texas at the meet in Florida to cap off their high school careers.

Freshman Linda Tran was the highest all-around finisher for the Lady Scots at State. She was 23rd out of 127 gymnasts. Linda scored a season high score on Compulsory Bars. Her highest scoring event was Bars where she finished 13th.

Freshman Kennedy Downing placed 33rd All-Around at State. Kennedy scored a season high score on Compulsory Beam. Her highest scoring event was Vault where is finished in 23rd place.

Senior Captain Katherine Downing placed 37th All-Around. Katherine scored season high scores on Beam on both days of competition. Floor was her highest scoring event overall, and she placed 18th on that event.

Senior Captain Tatum Meeks scored season highs on every event she competed on Day 1 of competition. Her highest scoring event was Vault, with her highest placement of the meet being Bars where she finished in 17th place.

Freshman Abby Sabatini competed in her first State Championships as a Lady Scot. She scored a season high on Compulsory Beam. Vault was her highest placing event where she finished 62nd.

Sophomore Lauren Cimorelli scored a season high on Optional Vault. Her highest scoring event was Floor where is finished 66th place overall.

Sophomore Carly Hart competed on Floor both days of competition finishing 73rd on that event.

Sophomore Megan Mulcahy competed on Bars both days of competition finishing 67th on that event. She scored a season high score on Compulsory Bars.

Congratulations again to the Lady Scots on a successful 2018-2019 season. Good luck to the seniors at Nationals!
