LADY SCOTS TRACK & FIELD TEAMS WIN DISTRICT 11-5A CHAMPIONSHIP

Lady Scots Track & Field Teams Win District 11-5A Championship

Congratulations to the Lady Scots Varsity and JV Track & Field Teams as they are the District 11-5A Champions. The District 11-5A Track & Field Meet was held on Thursday, April 4th and Friday, April 5th at Standridge Stadium in Carrollton.

The Varsity team scored 285 points. Carrollton Creekview placed 2nd with 103 points. The individual District Champions are Ella Patterson – 400 meter dash, Maddy Stephens – 800 meter run, Sophia Oliai – 3200 meter run, Meredith Sims – 300 meter hurdles, 4 x 100 meter relay – Sims, Cochran, Abigail Schott, and Patterson, 4 x 200 meter relay – Sims, Cochran, Schott, and Erin Harper, 4 x 400 meter relay – Olivia Conner, Stephens, Mary Warriner Kemp, and Patterson; Conner – high jump, Olivia Briggs – long jump and triple jump.

Claire Cochran, a sophomore, won the 100 meter hurdles and set a new school record with a time of 15.27. The old record was 15.30 set in 2013 by Katherine Ray and 2014 by Gracie Bailey.

The other top competitors were Cameron Fawcett, Izzy Blaylock, Alli Grace Ott, Anastasia Helms, Ashley Booe, Melenaite Pahulu, Alexis Sharrieff, Alie Lavish, Emory Brink, Phoebe Spackman, Ella Brown, and Kendall Ferguson.

The Varsity team set 15 new personal records and had 16 new season best.

The JV team scored 324 points. Carrollton RL Turner placed 2nd with 88 points. The top competitors were Sara Carlisle, Alexandra Jack, Kate Rossley, Anna Gregory, Elle Thompson, Margaret Chambless, Breanne Spence, Margaret Kemp, Annemarie Whalen, Gracyn Applegate, Adelaide Aiken, Kathryn Dunnill, Kate Allen, Ashley Nelson, Hadley Bornemann, Rebekah Miller, Scarlett Randall, Linda Bakich, AC McCormick, Kate Lampe, Caroline Morton, Katarina McIlveene, Lola Rodriguez, and Lily Baumgartner.

The JV team set 21 new personal records and 9 new season best.

The coaches are so proud of all of the athletes. They competed extremely well and represented Highland Park very well!

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Area 11-5A and 12-5A Track & Field Meet on Thursday, April 18th at Standridge Stadium in Carrollton. The 3200 meter run begins at 9:30 a.m., the field events begin at 11:00 a.m., and the rest of the running events begin at 6:30 p.m.
