The Lady Scots Track/Field Teams competed at the McKinney Boyd Relays on Friday, February 22nd and Saturday, February 23rd. Both teams competed very well – the Varsity placed 2nd out of 12 teams and the JV placed 4th out of 10 teams. Prosper won the Varsity Division and McKinney North won the JV Division.
In the Varsity Division, Morgan Thompson placed 1st in the discus with a throw of 117’ 0” – a season best. Junior captain Olivia Conner placed 5th in the high jump (5’ 0” – a season best), 6th in the 100 m hurdles with a season best of 17.39, and 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles (49.06 – a season best). In the long jump Meredith Sims placed 3rd (15’ 1 ½”) and Abigail Schott placed 5th (14’ 11”). Sims also won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.58. Sophia Oliai set a new personal record in the 3200 meter run and placed 6th (11:28.00) and placed 3rd in the 1600 m run (5:29.94 – a season best). The 4 x 100 m relay placed 5th (51.01 – a new personal record). The team members were Meredith Sims, Claire Cochran, Abigail Schott, and Ella Patterson. The 4 x 800 m relay placed 1st with a time of 10:01.88. The team members were Izzy Blaylock, Cameron Fawcett, Ali Grace Ott, and Phoebe Spackman. Claire Cochran won the 100 m hurdles with a time of 15.78 which was a new personal record. The 4 x 200 m relay placed 2nd with a time of 1:46.69 (a new personal record) – the team members were Erin Harper, Claire Cochran, Abigail Schott, and Ella Patterson. The Sprint Medley Relay placed 4th (4:25.73). The team members were Meredith Sims, senior captain Maddy Stephens, Elle Thompson, and Alli Grace Ott. Senior captain Ashley Booe placed 5th in the 300 m hurdles (50.25 – a season best). The 4 x 400 m relay placed 5th (4:18.22 – a new personal record). The team members were Breanne Spence, senior captain Maddy Stephens, Izzy Blaylock, and Elle Thompson. The Distance Medley Relay placed 2nd (12:58.68) – the team members were Cameron Fawcett, Margaret Chambless, Izzy Blaylock, and Sophia Oliai.
The following Varsity athletes also set a new season best or a new personal record: Junior captain Gracyn Applegate (SB), Izzy Blaylock (SB), Phoebe Spackman (SB), Anastasia Helms (SB), Abigail Schott (SB), Elle Thompson (SB), Alli Grace Ott, Annemarie Whalen (PR/SB), Erin Harper (PR).
In the JV Division, Emory Brink won the high jump with a jump of 4’ 8” (a season best) and 6th in the triple jump (27’ 11 ½” – a new personal record). Caroline Morton placed 4th (4’ 6” – a season best). Ali Reardon placed 6th in the long jump (13’ 1”) and 5th in the triple jump (28’ 6”). Ashley Nelson won the triple jump (29’ 6 ½”) and the 300 m hurdles (53.17). She also set a new personal record in the 100 m hurdles (19.71). The 4 x 800 m relay placed 3rd (11:04.91 – Madeline Davis, Margaret Kemp, Lola Rodriguez, and Maddy Collins). Kathryn Dunnill placed 3rd in the 100 m hurdles (17.65 – a new personal record) and also set a new personal record in the 300 m hurdles (54.42). The 4 x 200 M Relay placed 5th (1:58.37 – a new personal record – Linda Bakich, Emma Means, Ellie Jones, and Anna Gregory). The 4 x 400 m relay placed 3rd (4:31.12 – a new personal record – Linda Bakich, Hadley Bornemann, Emma Means, and Margaret Kemp).
The following JV athletes also set a new season best or a new personal record: Jax Whiteman (PR), Lola Rodriguez (PR), Hadley Bornemann (SB), Scarlett Randall (SB), Madeline Davis (SB), Maddy Collins (SB), and Morgan Stalker (PR).
The tracksters of the week were sophomore Claire Cochran, junior captain Olivia Conner, and sophomores Sophia Oliai and Meredith Sims.
The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the Coppell Relays at Coppell High School on Saturday, March 2nd. The field events begin at 8:00 a.m., the 3200 m run will start at 9:00 a.m., and the running finals will start at 1:00 p.m.
