Lady Scots Track & Field Teams Compete at Legacy Bronco Relays

The Lady Scots Track & Field Teams competed at the Legacy Bronco Relays in Mansfield on Saturday, February 16th. The Varsity placed 3rd with 87.25 points. DeSoto won the meet with 135 points followed by Lancaster with 106.25 points. The other teams were Mansfield Legacy, Mansfield Lake Ridge, Arlington Martin, Mansfield, Northwest Eaton, Crowley, Mansfield Timberview, Mansfield Summitt, Corsicana, and Ft. Worth Paschal.

Senior Morgan Thompson placed 3rd in the discus - 110' 7 ½ "; Junior Ali Lavish 3rd in the high jump - 4' 10"; Senior Captain Ella Brown tied for 3rd in the pole vault – 8’ 0”; Junior Phoebe Spackman tied for 3rd in the pole vault - 8’ 0”; Sophomore Sophia Oliai won the 3200 m run – 11:39.80 and placed 3rd in the 1600 m run – 5:30.67; Sophomore Cameron Fawcett 2nd in the 3200 m run – 11:56.36 and 1st in the 1600 m run – 5:28.32; Sophomore Izzy Blaylock 3rd in the 800 m run – 2:27.76 (a new personal record) and 4th in the 1600 m run – 5:37.02 (a new personal record); Sophomore Elle Thompson 5th in the 800 m run – 2:28.95 (a new personal record) and 6th in the 400 m dash – 64.59 (a new personal record); Junior Captain Olivia Conner 6th in the 300 m hurdles – 49.19; 4 x 400 m relay placed 2nd with a time of 4:20.16 – team members were senior captain Ashley Booe, sophomore Elle Thompson, freshman Linda Bakich, and junior captain Olivia Conner.
The following Varsity athletes also set new personal records: Sophomore Claire Cochran (long jump – 15’ 6 ½” and 100 m hurdles – 16.74) and junior Phoebe Spackman (800 m run – 2:37.32).

The JV team placed 6th with 56 points. DeSoto won the JV division with 141 points, followed by Lancaster with 105 points. There were 11 teams in the JV division.

Sophomore Emory Brink tied for 1st in the high jump – 4’ 6”; Junior Ashley Nelson placed 3rd in the high jump – 4’ 6” and 2nd in the triple jump – 30’ 6 ½”; Freshman Abigail Schott placed 3rd in the long jump – 15’ 1”; Sophomore Kendall Ferguson placed 5th in the pole vault – 6’ 0”; Sophomore Kathryn Dunnill placed 5th in the triple jump – 29’ 2 ½” and also set a new personal record in the long jump – 13’ 11; Freshman Alli Grace Ott placed 1st in the 3200 m run – 12:30.89; Junior Annemarie Whalen placed 6th in the 3200 m run – 13:15.14 and 5th in the 1600 m run – 6:07.22; 4 x 100 m relay placed 5th with a time of 56.03 – the team members were sophomore Kathryn Dunnill, freshmen Hadley Bornemann, Scarlett Randall, and Abigail Schott; Sophomore Hannah Thayer placed 6th in the 800 m run - 2:44.99; Junior Kate Allen placed 6th - 18.29; 4 x 400 m relay placed 5th with a time of 4:41.60 – the team members were freshmen Abigail Schott and Ellie Jones, sophomore Emory Brink, and freshman Alli Grace Ott. Sophomore Madeline Davis set a new personal record in the 800 m run with a time of 2:46.94.

The next meet for the Lady Scots will be the McKinney Boyd Relays on Friday, February 22nd and Saturday, February 23rd. On Friday, the field events start at 3:00 p.m. and the running events start at 4:00 p.m.. On Saturday, the field events start at 8:00 a.m. and the running events start at 12:00 p.m.
